#10-0 liner brush
#8 flat brush
#4 round brush
rose pattern
masking tape 3/4" wide

Painting Instructions:
1. Use tape to mask off 3/4" border of frame.
2. Pour 1" diameter puddles of Deep Burgundy and Titanium White onto the palette.
3. Dip sponge into both colors. Pounce on palette a few times to blend slightly. Sponge over the open area until you are pleased with the sponged effect.
4. Gently remove the tape immediately and allow the surface to dry.
5. Practice the strokes on the styrene paint blanks, using worksheets as a guide.
6. Use tape to mask off 1/2" stripe around sponged area. Use #12 flat brush and Deep Burgundy to paint border and outside frame edge. Allow to dry completely.
7. Use #8 flat brush and Santa Red to paint evenly spaced stripes on Deep Burgundy border. Gently remove tape and let dry.
8. Mask on both edges of 1/4" stripe around sponged area. Paint stripe Glorious Gold. Gently remove tape and let dry.
9. Trace and transfer rose pattern onto frame.
10. Use liner brush and Glorious Gold to paint a vine around center of sponged area.
11. Roses: Basecoat ovals with Glorious Gold. The rose is completed with two “C” strokes pulled from one side of the rose to the other. Load one side of the #8 flat brush with Titanium White and the other side with Glorious Gold (this is called double loading). The first “C” stroke is on the top edge of the oval with the white side forming the highlight on the outside edge of the rose. Let dry before proceeding. The second “C” stroke forms the opening of the rose and follows the bottom of the oval. (In both “C” strokes, the lighter side of the brush is kept towards the top of the rose.)
12. Leaves: Double load the #8 flat brush with Forest Green and Cadmium Yellow. Make three “S” strokes connecting at the bottom. Use the liner brush and Forest Green to paint a small swirl at the base of each leaf.
13. Use the #4 round brush loaded with Forest Green and tipped with White to make two comma strokes on each side under the roses. Use brush handle end and Forest Green to place a center dot between comma strokes.
14. Use a cotton swab tipped with Santa Red to make berries. Use the liner brush dipped in white to highlight berries with a dot.
